So you have just made the very wise decision to become a FENSA Registered Installer.
Now you may be wondering if the procedure will be complicated and difficult. Worry not, as here at FENSA we like to keep things simple and efficient.
It’s so easy to start, as you can just go to the FENSA website, click on ‘FENSA Installers’ where you can fill in a request form which will be submitted to us. You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org or if you like talking to someone, call 020 76453700.
Ok, no problems so far. Now you need to check out the rules to make sure you understand what FENSA is all about and that you know what is expected of you. Sorted that out? Now you can submit your application.
Once your application is received it will be vetted and if additional information is required, we will contact you.
If you have any queries then feel free to get in touch, we are very friendly and are here to help you! Just give us a call or speak to us on Twitter or Facebook!
As with most organisations, FENSA has to make some small charges for your registration to recover its own costs, but does not make or distribute profits. You can check out how much it will cost here. The good news is that as your registration with FENSA confirms your commitment to complying with Building Regulations, there are many other benefits, so many in fact we will leave them for another blog! (But you can get a sneak peek here!)
Ok, what happens next?
You will have a pre-approval inspection, to make sure your application can go ahead, which will include things like a company surveyor and installer competencies. If you are taking out an Insurance Backed Guarantee then you will be submitted to financial checks.
Once you are registered, to ensure Building Regulations and thermal performance standards are consistently maintained, you will find your installation work is continually inspected by the UKAS accredited independent inspections body, the British Board of Agreement. These inspections cost £100 + (VAT) each and will be carried out in the following ways:
If you do 0-25 installations you will be liable for one inspection, if you do 26-100 installations then you will have two annual inspections and if you take out 200 and more installations then you will be given inspections at 1%.
The inspections of your work should be welcomed, as your customers will look for the FENSA logo, feeling assured that their replacement windows or doors comply with Building Regulations.
